Cynthia Barnett


Journalist Cynthia Barnett is the author of three books on water including Rain: A Natural and Cultural History, a finalist for the National Book Award and named a best book of 2015 by NPR’s Science Friday, the Boston Globe, and others.

Her water and climate reporting appears in National Geographic, the New York TimesLos Angeles TimesWall Street JournalThe AtlanticSalonPoliticoDiscover, and other publications. She is also the author of Mirage: Florida and the Vanishing Water of the Eastern U.S., and Blue Revolution: Unmaking America’s Water Crisis, which calls for a new water ethic for the nation.

Ms. Barnett is also Environmental Journalist in Residence at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.
