Squire Patton Boggs
James Eklund is of counsel at Squire Patton Boggs, where he utilizes his background as Colorado’s lead water official to advise public and private entities on environmental, public policy, regulatory, and legislative matters. Appointed by Colorado’s Governor, he serves as the state’s principal representative on the Colorado River with responsibility for negotiations with six other states, the federal government, and Mexico. Eklund has also served as legal counsel to Governor John Hickenlooper where he worked on infrastructure and a host of other issues. Prior to that, he was a Colorado assistant attorney general working on natural resources issues.
